99% CPU Usage

Hi,

I am working in a Digital UNIX (V 4.0D) Alpha server and I have noticed that my application process at times takes 99% CPU time (not always). During this time users complain that their processes are running slow. I have analyzed the application code thoroughly and verified that there are no code deficiencies/costly operations.

What are the other areas where I have to look into, to check for this problem?
